Best FPV-Drone 2023

Best FPV-Drone 2023

This is the FPV drone gear I use to film all of my videos. If you consider buying a drone, it would be awesome, if you could use these affiliate links. All setups are BNF (bind and fly), so you don’t have to build or solder anything yourself. Some steps are needed to bind the drone to the controller and set the software to your needs. I explain the whole process in this video. When you buy the basic equipment along with either Set 1, 2 or 3, you have everything to get started with flying FPV drones. These FPV drones require some training before you can fly them, and you should check your local laws and regulations before flying. I trained a lot with the flight simulator Liftoff to get better.

Basic equipment

Controller – TBS Tango 2 Pro

Goggles – DJI Goggles 2
» IFlight | » Amazon

Charger – ISDT Q6 nano lipo battery charger 200W
» Amazon (Single) | » Amazon (power supply included)

Power supply – charger 12V
» Banggood | » Amazon

I use this basic equipment along with either Set 1, 2 or 3. There is the option to buy an analog goggle to save some money. However, I fly all my drones with this digital DJI goggle, and it’s really worth it.

Set 1 (5-Inch)

Nazgul Evoque F5
(Choose options (F5D – DeadCat(DC), 6S Version, TBS Crossfire NANO RX, Pre-installed GPS))
» IFlight | » IFlight (all inclusive)

2-8x battery 6s 1300mAh
» IFlight | » Amazon (best option)

GoPro 12
» Amazon

This is the drone I use for all landscape shots and when I just need a lot of power. I shot almost the entire movie Playing Gravity with this setup. You should not fly this drone indoors or too close to people, as the propellers can get dangerous. When I film with a GoPro, I always stabilize the footage using Reelsteady Go. There is the new option Gyroflow which is open source and for free. It’s quite new, but looks really promising so far.

Set 2 (Cinewhoop)

Defender 25
Choose option (TBS Crossfire NANO RX)
» IFlight

2-8x battery 4s 850mAh
» IFlight | » Amazon (best option)

Battery adapter XT30 to XT60
» IFlight

GoPro 12

Naked GoPro (Bec board, case)
» Germany | » International

When you see me fly through my van or between my legs, it’s this drone. It’s perfect to fly indoors, although it can handle wind surprisingly good. I would say, it’s the perfect beginner FPV drone. The only drawback is that it can not carry a full size GoPro. I use it with a self built naked GoPro 10 or an Insta360 Go2.

Set 3 (Cinewhoop)

ProTek 35
Choose option (TBS Crossfire NANO RX)
» IFlight

2-8x battery 6s 1050mAh
» IFlight | » Amazon (best option)

GoPro 12
» Amazon

This Cinewhoop is similar to Set 2, but can carry a full size GoPro. This makes it a very good beginner drone, especially if you want high quality videos without building a naked GoPro. You can fly indoors, although it weighs a little more than Set 2, so be more careful.

Rubber bands for batteries

This cheap drone setup is for everyone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of money and has no interest in filming with FPV. If you later decide to invest more, you won’t be able to reuse any of these components, but it’s a great way to test if FPV is for you. The rubber bands are awesome to mark which battery is full. I always connect the balancer cord to the main lead and remove it when I flew the battery. The beeper is perfect to locate your drone after a crash, especially when your main battery gets ripped off. This saved some of my drones, but you need to solder it to the flight controller yourself. Using Kot King I managed to make my drone waterproof. I applied it to all open electrical parts except the motors.

Best beginner drone (DJI)

DJI Avata
» DJI Store

DJI FPV drone
» DJI Store | » Amazon

DJI Mini 3 Pro
» DJI Store | » Amazon

The DJI Avata is the perfect beginner drone to get into FPV with no work at all. It is ready to fly out of the box and you don’t need to put as much work in as with the normal FPV drones above. However, I would not recommend it for professional work. When flying FPV professionally you need a wider range of drones for different types of work.

If you are looking for the easiest way to start FPV then the DJI Avata is made for you. The DJI FPV drone is an interesting option in combination with the Avata. However, I would prefer Set 1 over the DJI FPV drone. If you are looking for a non-FPV drone the DJI mini 3 pro is the best you can get. You fly it without the FPV goggles and it’s much easier to fly. I often use it when filming climbing or surfing. It’s perfect to fly streight lines for a landscape shot or just hover somewhere for a different angle. It’s also incredibly lightweight and silent.

Set up your IFlight drone

This is for everyone who bought Set 1, 2 or 3. When you bought it in combination with the basic equipment, you have everything to start flying. Follow these steps to set up your drone out of the box.
